Jeju Island 제주도 濟州島

Do u guys been the very south of Korea there?
There have an island which all the passenger comment that was a paradise leisure island which call "Jeju-do (Jeju island)".
If do have chance travel south korea please do not forget went Jeju Island for experience it ya.
Here have some short description about the history of Jeju Island.

Jeju-do (transliterated Korean for Jeju Province, short form of Jeju Special Autonomous Province or Cheju Island) is the special autonomous province of South Korea, situated on and coterminous with the country's largest island. Jeju-do lies in the Korea Strait, southwest of Jeollanam-do Province, of which it was a part before it became a separate province in 1946. Its capital is the city of Jeju. The island contains the natural World Heritage Site Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes.
(for getting more knowledge about jeju island may visit the site paste on above)

Jeju Island Travel Information
Jeju Island, also known as the "Island of the Gods," is a popular vacation spot for Koreans and many Japanese. It remains one of the top honeymoon destinations for Korean newlyweds. The island's mixture of volcanic rock, frequent rains, and temperate climate, make it very similar to the Hawaiian Islands in the U.S. The island offers visitors a wide range of activities: hiking on Halla-san (South Korea's highest peak), catching sunrises and sunsets over the ocean, viewing majestic waterfalls, riding horses, or just lying around on the sandy beaches.

Although tourism is one of the main industries on the island, many of the hotels and other tourist areas are run by mainland companies, so much of the income never gets put back into the local economy. Also, since the attractions are geared towards tourists, many of the entrance fees can be hefty (although the locally owned and operated ones tend to be cheaper). Similar to Gyeongju and some other areas, local residents can enter most places for free or for a steeply discounted price.

Lodging

Jeju (Cheju) Island has 21 lodging facilities listed with Life in Korea. See all Jeju (Cheju) Island hotels.

Transportation

Bicycle: Given Jeju's wide expanses, bicycling here is much safer than in most of Korea. Many of the roads have sufficient room to ride along the edge, and some even have special bike lanes- not just a painted line between you and traffic, but a separate road with curbs between you and the drivers. Unfortunately, many of the local residents are convinced that the bikes lanes were actually built especially for them to dry their seeds and herbs, so in some places you may have to take short detours onto the road.

Boat: The ferry terminals in Jeju City has daily boats to Busan, Yeosu, Mokp'o, Wando, Noktong, and Incheon on the mainland, as well as several boats to Japan (see the Jeju Port section for schedules). Several other smaller ports have boats to the outlying islands of Kapa-do, Mara-do, Piyang-do, and U-do.

Bus: The bus terminal in Jeju City has buses to numerous destinations around the island. Most do circuits between here and Seogwip'o or Jungmun Resort on the south coast, stopping at various points of interest along the way. Several Jeju City buses criss-cross the city. The main bus is #100, running between the airport and the port, passing the bus terminal and most major hotels. Major hotels and tourist agencies run 1- and 2-day tours around the island.

Car: Several rental car agencies have various models for hire, starting from around W35,000 per half day.

Plane: Jeju International Airport has several flights daily via Korean Air and Asiana to Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Jinju, Kunsan, Gwangju, Mokp'o, P'ohang, Ulsan, Yecheon, and Yeosu. Domestic flights have an airport tax of W3,000. It also has international flights to Japan: Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo. International flights have an airport tax of W9,000.

Jejudo is a volcanic island, 130 km from the southern coast of Korea. The largest island and smallest province in Korea, the island has a surface area of 1,846 sqkm. A central feature of Jeju is Hallasan, the tallest mountain in South Korea and a dormant volcano, which rises 1,950 m above sea level. 360 satellite volcanoes are around the main volcano.

KCS's AGM 2012/13

Hello, readers!
or should I say 안녀하세요!

I know you guys have been craving to see some posts about the happenings during the AGM. I know we delayed a few days and I guess you guys must be quite disappointed. Our sincere apologies. Well, despair not because we're finally here and back in the game! To those who were not present during the event, we will be posting a few pictures below and reveal some of the occurrence. And to those who were present that day, take this as something to aid yourselves in reminiscing about that night.

Besides, a picture is worth a thousand words...

Excited? Of course you do... :D

In every story, before bringing up any main points, there is always an introduction. In this case, our introduction will be as such;
     Rehearsing for the night...

Let me uncover some pictures of what the committees were doing a day before the AGM.

Here, we can see that our President and our VP is directing all the committees on welcoming the members to the hall. By the way, where they were at is not where the event should be held. Pretend the site between the Main Hall and Learning Point is the Exam Hall.
Hey, imaginations has no boundaries..
In this picture, we can see that both of our handsome emcees are practicing their lines for the night.

Well, pictures do really speak a thousand words. It's pretty obvious that all committees are diligently rehearsing for the AGM. Making sure they do not mess up in any ways, they practiced for about 2 - 3 times throughout the night. Not to mention they tried to brush up and enhance their scripts.

Exhausted? Sure they were! All these were for you guys! awww... :D

Moving on...

The following photos shown were also taken before the event, but on the same day.

As you can see the guys at the back were decorating the whiteboard with fancy strips while the girls were getting ready the gifts to be given out later.

Shifting the speakers for better sound effect. Plus, an awesome arrangement and position I would say. BONUS!

PA System. Making sure both audio and visual works perfectly fine, because they will be broadcasting some videos and some musics for the dancers to dance to. Nobody likes a scratchy audio and a blurry visual right?

     Our two handsome emcees.

And finally.... after a long rehearsal and precaution tests and not forgetting finishing their artistic decorations, the AGM begins!

Well hello and WELCOME!!!
Members queuing up for the registration

In just a split second, the hall is already half full!

 KCS's Teacher Advisors!

During the meeting itself, not only they introduce interesting things about this society, they even SHOWED it!
As the saying goes, "Action speaks louder than words"
For instance, the KCS Dance Division group did a splendid and flawless performance and left the audience stunned in awe. There were actually a few more performances by them such as the ladies danced to TaeTiSeo's Twinkle and the guys danced to ShiNee's Sherlock!

However, according to these pictures below, the guys performed Beast's Fiction and the ladies performed APink's My My.

For your information, their magnificent performances stole the hearts of the audience. The registration que for dancing class was so long that it was blocking my way out :D

Speaking of classes, not only KCS has a dancing class, but they do have a language class as well!               Awesome? Yes!
Imagining yourself capable of speaking a foreign language. Moreover, with that passion in learning the Korean language, it adds the uniqueness in you too.. don't you think so?

.... and hence, the AGM has finally come to an end and was earlier than expected. It finishes before the clock strikes 11. But no matter, the event was to be considered as a success. So, what do you guys think about it?

Da No Festival

Koreans also celebrated their Da No Festival in a similar fashion with Chinese too. Dano, also called as Surit-nal, is a Korean traditional holiday that falls on the 5th day of the fifth month of the lunar Korean calendar. It is one of the three major traditional holidays in South Korea, together with Seollal and Chuseok.  South Korea has retained several festivals related to the holiday, one of which is Gangneung Dano Festival (강릉단오제) designated by UNESCO as a "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity".

But a close look at the Korean version of the festival revealed that their ways of celebrating differed from the Chinese.

Why do Koreans celebrate this festival since ancient time?
Dano was the beginning of the rainy and hot season in Korea, which in ancient times was also the time many diseases were spread. So hygiene and warding off evil spirits also played a part in the Dano, In additional, irises were used to ward off the spirits (the women washed their hair in iris water, while men would wear irises on their trousers). Plus, like Chuseok and Seollal, it involved an ancestral ceremony and prayers for a good harvest.
Nowadays,
Korean women wash their hair with chung po (calamus) soaked in water on the particular day for silky smooth hair.

It was believed that Dano was an easy day for young people to fall passionately in love.Women would pout on their beautiful hanboks and  play g ne ddui gi (swing) to get attention while the men enjoy a game of ssi rem (wrestling) to show off their strength.
The Koreans also exchanged bu chae, traditional fans, during this special occasion.

Culinary delights like ssuk tteok (glutinous rice flour cake) and chilledsuritsul (rice wine) are enjoyed to mark this occasion.Other dishes included dduck ko chi (rice cake, beef strips, vegetable and crabsticks on skewers), dduck gal bi (beef patties), bu sut jun gol(mushroom stew) and dduck bok gi (stir-fried rice cake).
